Planned Outages

Planned Outages

Jemena Asset Management may need to interrupt your power supply to replace assets, perform maintenance works, to upgrade the network, health & safety reasons or for an emergency.
Over the past few years, our linesmen have been trained in the use of "glove and barrier" work practices to allow them to work with the power lines live. This has enabled a reduction in the effect of planned outages needed to maintain and upgrade the network. However, for safety reasons, the power will need to be turned off for certain planned works. Unless it is an emergency interruption, we will provide you with written notification at least 4 days prior to the planned interruption occurring, as per the Essential Services Commission: Electricity Distribution Code – Section 5.5 ww.esc.vic.gov.au

As a distribution business, it is necessary for Jemena Asset Management to coordinate planned outages for various types of works including:

  • maintenance or repair,
  • Augmentation (major works)
  • Emergencies
  • Load shedding (reduction of power due to particular circumstances)
  • Customer works
  • If we are required by a Regulatory Authority.

Please Note: Circumstances beyond our control, such as weather conditions, may prevent the work being carried out on the day.
